What is tamper-proof evidence?
Last updated February 04, 2025
When you finalize creating a journal entry, a unique process ensures the integrity of the record. This process uses a cryptographic hashing function to transform the details of the journal entry into a secure, fixed-length string of characters known as a "hash."
This hash acts as a digital fingerprint of the journal entry—any alteration to the original content would change the hash, making it immediately evident that tampering has occurred.
To view this tamper-evident hash, go to a completed journal entry, click "More," and reveal the hash value. This feature provides an added layer of trust and security, ensuring that your records remain unaltered and verifiable over time.
